Back from Italy...
The Ullapool High School Team (and Support Crew) |
While I'm putting a Photo gallery together, here's a slideshow of the European Business Game Final held in Piacenza on the 28th June.
The overall winning team came from France, Ullapool High School won the Social Responsibility Award and a great time was had by all.

Well We're Off to Italy Tomorrow
At some unearthly hour tomorrow, we're setting out from Inverness for the lovely town of Piacenza in Italy to take part in the 2011 European Business Game.
Representing Scotland, will be Ullapool High School and their enterprise "Chable"and eight other European countries are taking part in the event, where me and my fellow judges will be attempting to chose this year's European champions. There's also a wide programme of industrial and educational visits - and there may even be some time for a bit of entertainment.
EBG in Scotland is organised by Kenny MacInnes of the Highland Council.

Nancy's Yomp
Nancy Pearson from PSYBT Head Office is taking part in the Cateran Yomp; walking 54miles in 24 hours to raise funds for PSYBT and the Soldiers Charity.
We're all spurring her on and Nancy has put in plenty of practice. So it should be a doddle!

Farr High School have won the 2011 Scottish Final
You’ll no doubt be as pleased as me when I tell you that Farr High School has won the Overall Prize at the Young Enterprise Scottish Final at the ceremony which was held at Hampden Park earlier this evening.
The team “Farr Safer” also won “Best Report” and “Best Trade Stand” and will represent Scotland at the UK Final to be held at the Savoy Hotel, London on 12/13 July. This is the third year that FHS have reached the Scottish Final and the second year in which the school has won the top prize.
It’s been a long but exciting and rewarding day which also saw Linda Thomas of the Highland & Moray Board pick up an Award for her outstanding service to Young Enterprise Scotland.
I’m sure that we all wish the Team and Link Teacher, Dave Charnley, continuing success at the next stage of the competition.
There'll be pictures when we get them

Women @ Work Sutherland: Listening Skills
Here's a message from Women @ Work Sutherland. I will make no comment.
WEA WOMEN @ WORK PROJECT
issues a warm invitation for you to join us in Brora on Monday 20th June 2011 for the Sutherland Network Meeting
Listen-up Sharpen your Listening Skills
with Kate Williams MacKenzie
In this fun, practical and thought-provoking session you will gather information about what is involved in the apparently simple act of listening. Paying more attention to yourself and your environment are starting points for improving your ability to stay focussed on hearing what others are saying.
Exercises and games working individually, in pairs and with the whole group will stretch your listening “muscles” and help you get more out of inter-actions with friends, family and colleagues.
At the end of the session you will feel more confident about your listening skills and your ability to get the most out of your conversations and discussions.
Date: Monday 20th June 2011 12noon – 2pm
Venue: Brora Learning Centre, Johnstone Place, Brora
Cost: The event is free and lunch will be available for £3.00
Pre booking is requested
To book, please contact WEA: tel. 01463 710577 or
Should you have a special needs requirement please let us know.
All women welcome – we look forward to seeing you.
